I have been using natural ingredients when cleaning my home for such a long time now and I am very happy with the results. You might be wondering why I started in the first place and the answer to that is allergies. I have allergies and using commercial cleaners which are packed with harsh chemicals and toxins didn’t really help that – in fact, it made my allergies worst.
Thankfully, using natural ingredients has had a very positive impact on this problem of mine – so if you struggle with allergies I suggest you switch out to DIY cleaners.
I will show you how I make my favourite all-purpose cleaner!
I start off with preparing everything I will need – white vinegar, baking soda, and my favourite essential oil – tea tree!
I mix them in a spray bottle (1/2 cup of white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of baking soda, and 10 drops of the tea tree essential oil. You can use whatever oil you like, however, I recommend either tea tree or lavender because they have antibacterial properties.
I shake the bottle well so that everything can mix – and just like that, I have an amazing all-purpose cleaner that is strong, effective, and doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals.
I would say that you can use it on almost any surface but avoid the following:
- Marble countertops
- Wooden furniture
Both marble and wood can easily be damaged from the vinegar so if you happen to have marble countertops in your kitchen or your kitchen table is wooden I suggest you switch out the vinegar with rubbing alcohol, for example. It’s just as effective and it will even disinfect the surfaces!
