It’s true – wooden floors are a lot easier to take care of than carpeted ones but this does not mean that you can neglect them. There are a lot of things you need to do in order to maintain the beautiful looking – and today, I will share those steps you should take!
I, myself, have had carpeted floors in the past and I didn’t like how hard cleaning them is. I also didn’t like the fact that I had to call a cleaning company every few months to perform a deep clean and get rid of any dirt, dust, stains, and impurities. This is why I wanted wooden floors in my new home. Maintaining them clean isn’t hard at all especially when you know which cleaning methods to apply!
How To Take Care Of Wooden Floors?
The first thing you must keep in mind is vacuuming them every week. This will ensure that you remove any dirt and dust. Usually, dirt and dust are really bad for wooden floors because they scratch and wear down the protective finish.
Next on my list is avoiding water at all cost. Water can damage wooden floors, ruin the finish and penetrate deep into the wood which will cause stains. Reconsider using cleaners which have water in them or you diluting them in water. Also, if you expect rain – close the windows. If you have plants – be careful when watering them so that the water doesn’t spill on the floor.
The third important thing is to remove your shoes once you go inside your home. This is so crucial that I probably should have placed it under first! You don’t bring any dirt, dust, debris, and other impurities that will harm the finish of your wooden floors.
And the fourth thing on this list is using furniture pads. As you probably know, the legs of your furniture tend to scratch wooden floors and we want to avoid that for sure! This is why you can place furniture pads on all left of the furniture.
