How to remove yellow spots from different fabrics?

By | May 29, 2020

Yellow spots are quite a common problem that many deal with especially when it comes to upholstery. The possible causes are a lot, therefore, I won’t cover them. But I will cover all of the ways you can get rid of these annoying stains regardless of the fabric or surface.

Get rid of yellow spots on the following:

  • Acetate
  • Fiberglass
  • Rayon
  • Silk
  • Triacetate
  • Wool

Blot the affected area with a damped sponge. Grab hydrogen peroxide, mix it with water, and test the solution on a small area to see whether there is any reaction or damage. If it is safe then apply the mixture on the stain and remove it immediately with water.

  • Acrylic Fabric
  • Modacrylic
  • Nylon
  • Polyester

When dealing with yellow spots on these fabrics you should use lemon juice. It’s a great way to remove the spots without any risk of damage. Simply apply lemon juice to the stain and rinse it with water – but don’t let the juice dry.

If the spots are still remaining then buy a stain remover for delicate fabrics and try it out – of course, follow the given instructions.

  • Cotton
  • Linen

Use the liquid laundry detergent that you normally use and rub it into the affected area then rinse well. These fabrics don’t need much to be cleaned.
