How To Clean Your Microwave Without Vinegar?

Over the past couple of years, the whole cleaning your microwave with vinegar hack has become extremely popular. If I remember, it was one of the first times I actually deep cleaned something in my home with natural ingredients – and I am super grateful I found that recipe in the first place because it completely changed the way I view commercial detergents.

This, however, does not mean that I like the smell of vinegar. In fact, I absolutely hate it. And even though it is one of the most powerful natural ingredients to be used as a cleaner, I tend to avoid it when possible because I just simply hate how it smells. This has forced me to change the original microwave cleaning recipe a bit so I don’t use vinegar in it. And today, I will tell you which alternatives I use to achieve the same results.

How To Clean Your Microwave Without Vinegar?

Are you ready for my magic substitute to vinegar? It’s lemon juice! Yes, it’s also very acidic and works great, however, it smells incredible. So instead of mixing water with vinegar, I mix water with lemon juice. Then I place the bowl in the microwave and turn it on for 5 minutes.

Once the time is up, I leave the door closed for another 3 minutes so both the steam and the lemon juice can have time to work their magic and loosen up all the impurities, grease, etc.

Then I take the bowl out, dip a cloth or a sponge in the mixture and start wiping the interior of the microwave. And yes, that’s all I do! So if you hate vinegar just like I do, make sure you simply replace it with lemon juice and you will get the same result – a spotless microwave!
